Into The Ark ~ Stitched by Anna J. ~ Melbourne, Australia
Anna stitched her piece for a niece's baptism. She used European linen and DMC 3777 and added the kangaroo to give an Australian touch (designing her own kangaroo from Australian road signs). Her son gave her the idea to place the animals next to their corresponding letter - e.g. "C for cat" but it was not always possible. I love how Anna made this design her own - and what a lovely stitched treasure for her niece!

Halloween Wishes ~ Stitched by Denise M. ~ Berkeley, CA
What a unique and creative idea! Denise stitched her Halloween Wishes as a bellpull....and I am absolutely certain this image does not do it justice. Here are some of the details she sent me:
It is stitched on 32 count fabric. She personalized the bellpull in the center around a headstone, by placing her initials on the left side and "BOO!" on the right side...and the headstone is inscribed with the years 2008 and 2009 (the year she started and the year she finished the project) - she also added an alphabet, as she wanted it to look somewhat like a sampler. Silver bat charms were added to give her piece even more character. The sides were sewn using a blanket stitch to mimic the Frankenstein scar. Finally, she found a creepy looking branch, trimmed it, and attached the project....then took Kreinik silver #4 braid - tied it to part of a branch and wounded it around like the beginnings of a spider web, then attached a silver spider charm. This is a "spooktacular" interpretation of the design - thank you for sharing your work Denise!

Into The Ark ~ Stitched
by Jodi B. (Wisconsin, USA) and Ilse S. (Germany) ~
Finishing by Kathy N. (Alberta, Canada) ~ Gift for Dane B (Germany)
I just love this unique finish with a wonderful story behind it!
Jodi sent me this interesting story: “I have a good friend in Germany,
Dane, who collects Noah's Ark charts and she had told me that her very favorite
one was "Into the Ark" so I choose to stitch that for her birthday.
I knew her favorite color is blue and I knew I wanted to have it made into
a wall-hanging with a beaded trim, so I first found a beaded trim that I
liked. Then I went to the quilt shop and found a batik to match and picked
out Silkweaver's 'Baby Blue' fabric and a Carrie's Thread that went with
it.
I stitched half of it and then sent it to Germany where another friend of
Dane's (named Ilse) finished it up - then we had my finisher in Canada make
it into the wall-hanging so really 3 of us worked on it.”
Now just how cool is that?! ~ What a fabulous stitching story!!
